Full name: Development of a Methodological Training for Company Instructors Providing Work-Based Trainings in the Plastics and Related Industrial Sectors
The DEMETRA international consortium tender group, established within the framework of the ERASMUS+ program, of which PEMÜ Műanyagipari Zrt. is also a member, has set the goal of internationally developing the training and development processes of mentors of industrial companies closely related to vocational training in the plastics industry.
The hurried up and constantly changing economic and social environment is a constant challenge for both employers and training institutions. Employers want to take personnel with extensive theoretical and up-to-date industry knowledge into employment.
Bringing the vocational training system together with the business world is a day-to-day concern, not only in Hungary but in Europe as well, because the skills of those graduating from vocational training systems often do not meet the expectations of employers.
The introduction of dual training tries to solve this problem by putting work-based learning at the forefront. The person of the mentor working at the companies is very important in this process, as it acts as a bridge between school and the business world, helping students to find their way between the two areas of activity.
The main purpose of the DEMETRA (Development of a Methodological Training for Company Instructors Providing Work-Based Trainings in the Plastics and Related Industrial Sectors) project which has started in November 2017 with supported by the Erasmus+ program is to make dual training more effective by supporting the work of the mentors.
During the project with code number 2017-01-HU01-KA202-035951, a training material which lays special importance on the learning habits of Generation Z was developed, to make the training provided by mentors more effective.
The development of the training material was preceded by a survey done in four countries, the curriculum and methodology then learned by a group of mentors who applied the acquired knowledge in their own works too. The final training material was developed based on the acquired practical experience and feedback, and made available by the consortium to those who were interested.
7 institutions from 4 countries cooperated in the project. Members from Hungary were PEMŰ Műanyagipari Zrt. and the Hungarian Plastics Association, besides the consortium leader TREBAG Kft., A-Omega participated from Slovakia, Babes-Bolyai University and Energom from Romania, and IDEC from Greece.
